Sustainable luxury hotel accommodation

Sustainable luxury hotel accommodation and indeed sustainability in all aspects of travel, is the new imperative.
Climate change challenges every aspect our lives. And it challenges across the broad tourism spectrum. It impacts from the cost of flights to the sustainability policies of even the smallest tourism provider
For the more discerning travellers, sustainable luxury hotel accommodation is now expected. This is impacting everything from water and electricity sources, to passive heating and cooling, to eliminating plastic stress shampoos.
I have just returned from 6 weeks traveling through Europe. From Montenegro to Wales, I have seen first hand, the overwhelming commitment to achieving sustainable luxury hotel accommodation.
Of course, there is generally broad consensus that the move to sustainable practices is a good thing, a necessary thing.
Climate change is an ever present and growing threat.
Though there are opposing factions on many issues, no one is in favor of climate change. A habitable planet is required for every enterprise. It’s an overarching concern.
But all is not doom and gloom.

Because of worldwide mobilisation and work on many fronts, things are looking better for the climate.

The following suggests that there is every reason for optimism.

David Wallace-Wells has modified his prognosis

The New York Times published an article by David Wallace-Wells, who wrote “The Uninhabitable Earth”. This became New York Magazine’s most-read article ever. A New York Times reviewer called his same titled book “the most terrifying book I have ever read.”
But now, in a new essay, he writes that he has modified his prognosis. He has changed his prognosis not because he was wrong, but because of human action.
“Just a few years ago,” he wrote, “climate projections for this century looked quite apocalyptic. Now, however, things are looking significantly better. This is thanks to astonishing global initiatives that have cut expected warming almost in half in just five years.”
That is seriously good news. It shows that human action can make a difference, and encourages us to do more. It’s a bright beam of sunlight through what has been a very dark cloud, and will make us all feel better. There are many things happening that point to a more hopeful climate future. There are now machines that can pull carbon from the atmosphere and store it safely in the earth’s crust. The technology is still a work in progress, but it offers hope.
