Luxury Tasmanian Accommodation – guest expectations

Luxury Tasmanian accommodation may never be the same after the changes brought on by COVID.

There has been an interesting travel development as domestic travel has mostly returned to normality post Covid. Daily housekeeping in hotels doesn’t appear to have returned to ‘normal’.

The practice of reduced routine housekeeping became standard during the height of the pandemic. For obvious reasons this change faced little opposition. However, as travel has returned, the question of daily housekeeping is being hotly debated.

It seems that daily room housekeeping has largely been replaced by more intensive cleaning in between stays of guests.

Consumers aren’t always thrilled about this. Some social media comments complain that this is offering a lesser service. Others speculate that traditional hotels are shifting towards the self-service model of rental platforms such as Airbnb.

Hotel surveys show that guests have varying levels of comfort with staff entering their rooms after they have checked in.

By contrast, many guests indicate that they do not want daily housekeeping. Some prefer not to have staff enter the Covid safe bubble that is their room. Other guests, especially overland travellers, often decide the housekeeping as they spread out across the room to sort suitcases.

At The Woodbridge, luxury Tasmanian accommodation has evolved to accommodate these changes. Now our guests can choose to book using our Standard rate.  Or they can book “without daily housekeeping” – and we pass the savings on to them.

At The Woodbridge, we have also moved to offer more flexibility, allowing our guests to tailor their stay.
