It is now ready to celebrate yours.
My first experience of the beautiful pared back European style wedding was in Switzerland many, many years ago. Family and friends gathered in a little church on a hill high above the village. After the ceremony, we all went off to the local restaurant for a simple meal. It was all so stunningly simple, stunningly beautiful, stunningly authentic.
Over the years, we have welcomed wedding parties who have flown here from various European countries. Through them we have seen how perfectly The Woodbridge suits this relaxed European style of wedding. The family has stayed at The Woodbridge, married here, and later gone for a meal together.
There is no elaborate set up, just the gathering of loved ones to witness a commitment to a shared future.
At The Woodbridge you can be forgiven for believing that you have been transported into Europe. The property offers a stunning backdrop for your wedding with stunning photographic opportunities.
The Woodbridge was restored in 2005 and reimagined as a five star boutique hotel in 2007. It operated as the first and only Tasmania member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World from 2007 to 2019.
Today, The Woodbridge operates as ‘The Woodbridge Waterfront Rooms, boutique rooms only accommodation.
The Woodbridge welcomes small, intimate weddings.
A minimum 2 night stays apply for weddings, the night before and the night of the wedding
Of course we are happy to extend to longer stays.
Exclusive Use of the entire accommodation house is mandatory for the day of the wedding. But tor very small groups ‘normal’ room reservation on an individual basis is negotiable for the other night.
Our beautiful riverside gardens with Woodbridge’s imposing 3 storey facade, is an obvious stage for your ceremony.
The ballroom is also a perfect indoor space for your ceremony.
The Pavilion is also available if you are engaging a wedding planner.
With small numbers of guests the day can be tailored to your preferences.
For such a small intimate group you may choose to not have a Wedding Planner.
However, with a wedding planner, you also have the option to to use our beautiful riverfront Pavilion.
The 3 level Pavilion overhangs the river foreshore.
It is a stunning space with high ceilings and huge windows embracing the water views,
With the hire of The Pavilion you may also opt to contract your own caterers who can utilise our commercial kitchen and bar for your reception.
If you have planners, we will be delighted to work with them.
Many smaller weddings opt to have a ceremony at The Woodbridge and then head off for an informal meal off-site. The Agrarian Kitchen is a very popular choice.
If The Pavilion is also hired, you may opt to have your wedding planner engage catering staff and arrange a private meal.
Wedding Season is September – April
Out of season weddings by negotiation.
Off-season micro fireside ceremonies in the Ballroom are a lovely choice.

– first night may be Exclusive Use or rooms can be reserved on an individual by-room basis.
– minimum 1 night Exclusive Use is required for the night of the wedding for Bride Groom and up to 14 guests in 8 rooms from $4300/ night including GST.
– additional hire of The Pavilion $1600/night
Friday Saturday Sunday
2 night minimum stay as outlined above.
– from $4700/night including GST
– addition $2000/night for use of The Pavilion
Bare Bones:
This is a bare bones package, including only the specified items. We are happy to assist you with finding celebrant and other services, with which you can then negotiate directly.

Totally flexible for small groups 16 or fewer.

All interiors are strictly non-smoking.
Room types & extra information
Max 2 persons per room, no roll away beds, no sleeping on lounges.
Children 8 and above are welcome in their own room.
