This Room, the original nursery, celebrates Mrs Sharland (nee Sarah Schaw), the wife of the third owner, and the mother of 14 children. The ceiling offers a ‘window’ into the nanny’s room in the roof cavity above.
The Room is 15 steps to the top floor of the Central Tower and is a very private room with no rooms above or beside. It is an enchanting, large hexagonal room looking down on the Terrace Gardens and river.
There is a shower over the bath, with a grab rail.
A clutter-free room with clean lines creating a calming retreat.
Smooth surfaces are suitable for those with allergies.
Because of previous false fire brigade call-outs, and smoke damage, we no longer allow fires in private rooms.
The Sarah Schaw combines well with The Three Bridges or The Roadknight at the bottom of the stairs for groups.
The Sarah Schaw is up a flight of stairs. In line with OHS guidelines, staff are not permitted to carry luggage in excess of 20 kilograms on stairs. Please be aware that Woodbridge is a Heritage-listed building and there are no lifts.
