Activities:
Barbecues:
Well maintained, free barbecues and picnic tables are situated just 200 metres along the Esplanade.
Bath Safety
Most rooms have showers over a bath tub. Some tubs are sunken and all have grab rails for easy access. Our bath tubs have flat bases for stability, our bathroom floors have good grip and non-slip shower mats are available on request.
Blankets, doonas and pillows:
Additional blankets and pillows are stored in the blanket box in your room. Additional doonas are available on request.
Bottle opener:
There is a bottle opener in the cutlery box in your room.
Breakfasts:
The Woodbridge offers room-only accommodation.
Bus:
Buses to Hobart run regularly from the bus stop in the carpark on Pioneer Avenue.
Car wash:
There is a hose and soft broom in our carpark or you may prefer to go to the commercial car wash – across the bridge and turn left.
Check-in and Check-out:
Check-in is 15:00 – 17:00. Later or earlier check-in is available by arrangement.
Check-out is by 10:00. Later check-out may be available by arrangement.
Please return the room keys to the silver drop box on the building next to the roadside pedestrian gate. Make sure that you exit the vehicle gates before surrendering your keys.
Charges may apply for early or late check-in or check-out.
Cleaning:
There is a dustpan and brush in the cupboard in your room. In the Guest Kitchenette there is a vacuum, a broom, a mop, and cloths.

Communal areas:
The Reading Room, Guest Kitchenette and Dining Room are for all guest use. There are CD players and adjustable heaters in these areas.
Doctor:
The Australian government offers wonderful, 24/7 free emergency advice by phone called Health Direct. Phone 1800 022 222 to speak to a registered nurse about any medical concern. The nurse will ask a series of questions to assess symptoms in 4 minutes and advise how to get help.

Electricity:
Electricity is 240 volt. Our rooms accept 3-pin plugs. International adaptors are available via Mobile Concierge.
There are multiple power points in each room, including points beside beds.
Electric car recharge:
There is an EV charger at the service station corner of Montagu and Burnett Streets.
Exercise stations:
Exercise equipment is available for free use along the Esplanade.
Fires in rooms:
The fireplaces are retained but they are not operational. Smoke alarms are installed in each room.
Fire alarm:
In the event of a fire, fire alarms will be activated.
If you see a fire, dial 000 immediately and ask for Fire Brigade to 6 Bridge Street, New Norfolk.
In the event of a fire alarm, leave your room immediately and follow the evacuation plan displayed behind your room door. Muster on the road outside the main gates. Do not re-enter the building until advised that it is safe to do so.
Once safely on the road, please phone us via the Mobile Concierge.
There is a Fire Blanket and Fire Extinguisher in the Guest Kitchenette. There are Fire Hoses opposite the main entrance and on the bridge end of the building.
Food in room:
To help us minimise pests, we ask guests to enjoy meals in the Dining Room rather than in guest rooms.
Gates:
The pedestrian gates are not locked. The vehicle gates may be locked, and if so, you will be issued with a gate zapper.
Guest Kitchenette and Dining Room:
The Guest Kitchenette/Dining areas contain plates, glasses, cutlery, napkins, fridge, freezer, ice machine, electric jug, coffee machine, microwave, sandwich press, egg cooker, air fryer, tables and chairs. It is available for use at all times, but please observe our Quiet Please etiquette 22:00 to 08:00. Please leave the area clean for other guests.
Heating and cooling:
Rooms and communal areas are individually cooled and heated by unique combinations of air-conditioning, wall heaters and ceiling fans so that guests can adjust as required.
Air-conditioning: This is reverse cycle, so adjust MODE on the hand controller to warm (sun) or cool (snowflake). Please close windows and doors when using air-conditioner.
Heaters: Set higher to warm the room, then leave set on 4-5. In bathrooms please turn heaters off after bathing.
Fans: Please turn ceiling fans off when you leave the room as leaving them on serves no purpose.
High Street Shopping:
High Street is the main street of our village. Parking is free. Parking on High Street is limited but there are large free carparks one street back on both sides.
Hot water:
Our hot water comes from shared systems so it may take a little time for hot water to come through, especially in colder weather.
Put hot water on full, then adjust with cold water as needed.
In Australia there are legislated maximum temperatures for hot water systems.
Housekeeping:
Basic housekeeping is available on request every third day. Housekeeping is not available on Sundays or Public Holidays. Refills and extra supplies are available at all times via Mobile Concierge.
Insects:
Tasmania has very little mosquito activity, but flies and garden insects do like to visit The Woodbridge. There is fly spray in the cupboard of your room. The Woodbridge is Heritage Listed and fly screens are not permitted.
Iron, ironing-board:
There is an iron and small ironing board in the cupboard of your room. Larger ironing boards are in the middle cupboard in the downstairs hallway.
Locks:
Door locks are firs safety standard. This means that you will automatically get out without using your key. However you will need your key to get back into the building and into your room. Turn to key to open the doors, do not just lean on the handle.
You will be issued with two house keys, one for the main door and one for your room. You will also be issued with a key or code for the lock box in your room.
If vehicle gates are being closed, you will be issued with a gate zapper.
On departure, please drop keys and zapper into the silver drop box on the corner of the first building inside the pedestrian gate.
Loss of keys or failure to return same will incur considerable expense as it usually means that multiple key pads need to be replaced. Guests will be charged accordingly.
Dead locks are active on external doors when there are no guests staying in the room. Deadlocks are otherwise not set so that guests have an unimpeded exit in an emergency.
Lost and Found:
Found items will be stored by the hotel for up to three months. We use an off-site service to collect and post items. Charges will apply.
Luggage Racks:
Furniture in your room is designed to double as luggage racks. There are additional luggage racks in the middle cupboard of the downstairs hallway.
Music:
We chose to not have generic piped music. There are CD players in the Reading Room and in the Salon – please feel free to turn them on or off, and to select your CD. There are several nice music channels on the TV in your room – around channel 200.
Night lights:
In your room there is a small plug-in night light.
Hall lights in The Main House automatically turn off at 23:00. Table lamps are on timers.
When you leave a room please turn off any lights that you turned on.
Going out at night?: Please turn on the outside door light of the Main House before you go, so that you can see the lock for your keys in the dark.
Parking:
Complimentary parking is available on-site for small/medium cars and bikes. Parking space is limited, so please park as close as possible to neighbouring cars. Free street parking is available outside our gates for larger SUVs and other vehicles.
Pharmacy:
There are two pharmacies in High Street, turn left or right at the roundabout.
Post Office:
The Post office is in High Street, turn left at the roundabout.
Quiet please:
Guests are asked to be mindful of the comfort of others and observe the ‘Quiet Please’ etiquette from 22:00 to 08:00.
Refrigerator:
There is a small refrigerator in your room. Please do not adjust the temperature. Please do not put gel packs in the freezer.
Rubbish and recycling:
Rubbish bins are situated behind the white wall of the carpark. Yellow is recycling for glass, plastic bottles and cardboard.
Scissors:
There is a small pair of scissors in the cutlery box in your room. Please do not remove the larger scissors from the Guest Kitchenette.
Security:
The Woodbridge has several layers of security including video surveillance and 24 hour monitored security and smoke alarms. When you leave the room, make sure that all the doors and windows are closed. For your security, please keep your room locked when unattended and do not admit unknown persons to the property. The hotel is not responsible for any money or valuables left in your room. The hotel is not responsible for vehicles parked on the property or outside on the street.
Smoking:
Smoking is prohibited inside the hotel. Rooms are fitted with monitored smoke alarms. The hotel reserves the right to impose a fine for smoking in the room up to the cost of one night’s stay. Please smoke outside only. The Tasmanian Public Health Act 1997, requires that smokers be at least 3 metres from all doors into the hotel, and also 3 metres from the outdoor eating area of the Almond Terrace.
Supermarket:
Woolworths is 6 blocks away at the corner of Burnett and George Streets. It is open 07:00 to 22:00 daily.
Swimming:
The local outdoor, heated pool is just 200 metres along the Esplanade. It operates October to March. Opening hours vary and you can contact the Derwent Valley Council at (03) 6261 8500 or the pool directly at (03) 6261 2648 .
The locals often swim in the river. Swimming in the river is at the guest’s own risk and currents can be deceptively strong.
Taxis:
There are several taxi companies servicing New Norfolk. When booking, please check that they accept credit card.
Tea, coffee, milk:
Everything that you need for a cuppa is in the tea cupboard in your room.
TV and programming:
All rooms have Smart TVs. You can sign in to YouTube as a Guest. For Netflix etc sign in with your own account.
Umbrellas:
Umbrellas are available for guest use at the main entrance and in the lower hallways for the rooms downstairs.
Valuables:
The hotel takes no responsibility for your valuables. There is a lockbox in your room which will have a key or combination security.
Walking:
There are several lovely walking trails from The Woodbridge. The trail along the foreshore does not stop at the sandstone cliff as steps continue over the cliff and open up several further trails.
Washing:
Your bathroom is fitted with drip-dry rails over the bath tub. The metal clothes hangers in your wardrobe are ideal for this. Additional clothes racks for use in your bathrooms are available from the middle cupboard in the downstairs hallway.
White Wallaby Laundromat is at 9A High St, New Norfolk and is open 06:00 to 21:30 daily. It also offers same day laundry service by arrangement via their website or phone.
Water:
Our water is sweet, pure and is safe to drink straight from the tap. There are cooler jugs with the ice machine in the Guest Kitchenette.
Wi-Fi:
Wi-Fi is complimentary, unlimited and available throughout the hotel. Codes for using the Wi-Fi are in every room throughout The Woodbridge.
Windows and outside doors:
The Woodbridge is Heritage Listed and our precious old windows are often sealed behind glass. Some windows can be opened slightly. Some rooms have external doors. Fly screens and screened security doors are not permitted in heritage buildings.
To ensure everyone’s peaceful stay, please ensure that windows and outer doors are securely closed at night and when you are out of the room.
