“The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time” – Bertrand Russell
Woodbridge on the Derwent is well situated for your Tasmanian holiday.
It is only a 30 minute glorious riverside drive from the Hobart CBD, Mt Wellington, the wharves and Salamanca Market, and only 15 minutes to the newly opened MONA (Museum of Old & New Art) with its highly acclaimed and controversial collections.
Woodbridge sits on the banks of the beautiful Derwent River and the river features in so many activities – walking, kayaking, rafting, swimming and fishing, and you will get fabulous snapshots of Woodbridge and the river from the bridge. As we are in Tasmania’s renowned gourmet food bowl, Derwent Valley premier wineries and farm gate producers feature significantly in most guests’ itineraries.
The Derwent Valley is breath-takingly beautiful, with constantly changing vistas along winding country roads and meandering walking tracks. Wilderness areas are close by as are Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park and the Styx Valley old growth forests which are the home of the tallest hardwoods in the world.
Most of southern Tasmania is within an easy half or full day loop trip from Woodbridge. Many guests have made us their base and made day trips to Port Arthur, the Huon and Coal River Valleys, Bruny Island, Richmond, Freycinet, Maria Island, the historic midlands and the great mountain lakes.
